Water.

deep within me
is a river that runs deep
and thicker than blood
river that transcends
what human eyes can see
today I submit myself
before this river
I lay myself bare
peel the flesh clean off my body
till all I have are naked bones
sweating blood.
let these
fountains of water bust forth
from my eyelids
till I have
an entire body of water
in my palms.
water;

that dries up,
but never runs dry

water;
that breaks free
from the pores of my skin
to protest the anger of the sun
there is no drought or thirst here.
So, dear earth,
please take my blood and leave my water.
