we were warned about
The world is boiling
Our Bodies are roasting in sweat
the birds above savor our putrid aroma
our homes have become ovens
Who left the gates of hell open?
the scarcity of raindrops
make me sweat, make me water
the batteries in my head are overheating
semester examinations are knocking,
they are like neighborhood terrorists
armed with guns
you know they're coming
but you close your eyes
hoping your prayers will delay their arrival
but God doesn't listen to such prayers
exams are here
put your hands on your head
only the clever ones will survive, they say
but
of what use will my intelligence be
when my sanity
has been snatched away from me?
